Matteo Del Fante, married, two children.
He graduated in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan summa cum laude in 1992. He has attended specialization courses in international financial markets at the Stern Business School, New York University. In October 2021 the Bocconi Alumni Community (counting over 120.000 members in 69 chapters worldwide) awarded him the 2021 Alumnus Award.
He began his career in 1991 in the Research Department at JP Morgan, later holding various roles in Milan and London before being appointed Managing Director in 1999. In his final role at JPMorgan in 2003, he was responsible for Public Sector clients across EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
In 2004, he joined the newly privatized Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (National Development Bank – CDP) as Head of Finance and M&A. From June 2010 to May 2014, he served as Managing Director of CDP. He also sat on the boards of several CDP Group companies, including STM Microelectronics N.V. from 2005 to 2008 and the European Energy Efficiency Fund (EEEF) from 2011 to 2013.
From 2014 to 2017, he served as CEO and Managing Director of Terna, Italy’s national high-voltage electricity grid operator, listed in Milan with a market capitalization of approximately €20 billion. He had been a member of Terna’s Board of Directors since April 2008. From June 2015 to April 2017, he also served as Vice-President of ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity.
