Poste Italiane Group operates as a Platform Company, integrating its physical network, digital channels and technological platforms to deliver accessible, reliable and nationwide services across Italy.
 
In line with the strategic guidelines set out in the Strategic Plan, the Group’s activities are divided into four Strategic Business Units:

  • Mail, Parcels and Distribution
  • Financial services
  • Insurance services
  • Postepay services (Payments and digital services) 

A core element of the model is the omnichannel approach, which combines the capillary presence of post offices with the continuous development of digital channels, enabling millions of daily interactions between physical and digital touchpoints. This approach strengthens territorial proximity, service accessibility and financial and social inclusion.
 
The business model structurally integrates ESG factors, recognising the value of human capital, trust, and community impact as essential components of the value creation process for both the Group and the Italian economic and social system.

Creating value for shareholders and employees

Through its leadership in the logistics, financial, insurance and payment services sectors, Poste Italiane plays a key role in the creation of economic value both for the stakeholders directly impacted by its business activities and for the country as a whole.
In particular, the activities carried out by Poste Italiane generate impacts on GDP, employment income, employment and contributions to Public Administration. The estimated impacts can be distinguished into:

  • Direct impacts: generated by the operating activities carried out directly by Poste Italiane;
  • Indirect impacts: generated along the supply chain as a result of Poste Italiane’s spending on goods and services (€4.2 billion in 2025) from Italian suppliers;
  • Induced impacts: generated by consumer spending that is realised through the income earned by workers employed directly and indirectly by the Group.​

The process of creating Poste Italiane’s economic value

In 2025, the Poste Italiane Group had an impact on the country’s economy, in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), of €14 billion and, employed a total of roughly 199 thousand people and contributed around €2.6 billion in tax revenue to the Public Administration. Furthermore, it is estimated that Poste Italiane contributed directly and indirectly to the distribution of income to workers, for a total exceeding €7.3 billion.

Poste Italiane’s creation of value is based on the contribution that the Group’s individual people make through their daily work and commitment. Indeed, during 2025, each Poste Italiane person contributed to the creation of economic impacts for the territory amounting to €115 thousand of GDP, €59 thousand of income for families, €22 thousand of tax contributions and the employment of 1.5 people. One euro spent by Poste Italiane for the purchase of goods and services generates an economic value for the country system of €3 in terms of production value.

The commitment that Poste Italiane dedicates to serving the country’s economy is not limited to 2025, but is embedded in a path of annual value creation. In fact, from 2018, Poste Italiane Group generated total impacts for the Country of approximately €104 billion of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), €51 billion of employment income and €18 billion of tax revenue. In addition, the Group contributed an average of 188 thousand jobs between 2018 and 2025.

In 2025, the Poste Italiane Group generated value for shareholders through record economic and financial performance, confirming the strength and sustainability of its industrial model. All business areas contributed to the achievement of results, supported by solid commercial momentum, rigorous cost discipline and strong returns from the investment portfolio.
 
Revenues reached an all-time high, as did adjusted operating profit and net profit, reinforcing the Group’s structural ability to generate cash and to sustain an attractive and sustainable shareholder remuneration policy over time.
 
Poste Italiane’s people are a central driver of value creation. Employees’ contribution underpins both the Group’s economic results and the broader impacts generated in terms of employment, territorial development and social cohesion.
 
Value creation for employees is reflected in particular through:

  • structural investments in training, skills development and professional reskilling, including dedicated programmes for management and leadership development in a context of organisational and digital transformation;
  • enhancement of human capital, supported by change management initiatives, team-building activities and actions aimed at strengthening collaboration and shared responsibility within an evolving organisational model;
  • quality of work and employee wellbeing, consistent with the Group’s commitment to inclusion, health and safety, and continuous professional growth, as an integral part of its sustainability strategy.
