We are unique in Italy in terms of our size, recognisability and widespread presence. Our activities have a significant impact throughout the country and we therefore play a leading role in Italy’s sustainable, digital and inclusive development.
 
We strive every day to support local communities, paying particular attention to modernisation and digitisation processes. Our aim is to improve the community’s quality of life, promote the well-being of all citizens and encourage their active participation in public life, while contributing to the socio-economic development of local areas.
 
Our commitment to the community is expressed through:
 
  • Our business activities. Our products and services are highly inclusive, focusing on the needs of the most vulnerable. We are also present throughout the country, including in inland and rural areas of Italy where bank branches are not always present.
 
  • Social solidarity initiatives. We listen to the community’s needs and in particular to the most vulnerable groups. We support initiatives that are often initiated locally, with the aim of maintaining strong ties within the community and promoting equity and inclusion.

The POLIS project

The ‘Polis - digital citizenship service houses’ project is a concrete example of our commitment to foster the country’s economic, social and territorial cohesion.

We are transforming the post offices in around 7,000 small towns to make life easier for citizens by offering them a one-stop shop to access the public administration’s digital services.
We will also set up 250 coworking spaces in Italy, providing workstations, meeting spaces and event areas.

We offer useful products and services to an increasing number of people thanks to our network of 12,659 post offices throughout Italy and our digital channels.
 
Our products are designed not only to create economic value for our Group, but also to meet the social needs of people living in inland or rural areas of the country, as well as vulnerable people.

This is why we create and renew dedicated products, such as:

  • the Youth loan
  • the Basic BancoPosta Account
  • a number of services dedicated to women victims of gender-based violence
  • or the Supersmart Pension Fund.
We provide structured support for a series of initiatives and projects to spread cultural values and protect our country’s historical identity.
 
We promote the right to education for all, starting with young people.
 
We provide scholarships, organise training courses, and offer open access content, also with the aim of promoting digital inclusion.
 
We carry out financial education initiatives aimed at the entire population to encourage informed choices and pay attention to the growth of the younger generation.
We constantly collaborate with administrations, local authorities, associations and our stakeholders, including through sponsorship initiatives, to meet the social needs of those in disadvantaged or vulnerable situations and to support sports and cultural initiatives.
 
We also offer communities our economic and technological tools, our network and our expertise to respond to situations of special social need, including those resulting from natural disasters.

The sponsorship portal

Anyone can propose a project and request concrete support.

In particular, we support projects involving social inclusion, sport – which we see as a driver for integration, team spirit and loyalty – environmental protection, the celebration of Italy’s cultural and social heritage, entertainment, culture and art.
 
2025 Goals and results
 
Target Result
Allocate at least 20% of the supported social initiatives to benefit people in vulnerable conditions and young people. In 2025, out of a total of 169 approved projects, 55 were specifically aimed at supporting people in vulnerable conditions and young people.

Corporate volunteering

Our volunteering model aims to empower the people of Poste Italiane, who are already aware and active in volunteering, by involving them in the positive change that we want to help bring about, creating a solidarity network in the country and strengthening people’s ability to work together. The aim is to foster the development of social networks that can create long-term value

To facilitate this process and to better involve our 121,000 people, we created a dedicated internal platform, defining social projects integrated with our sustainability strategy.
 
In 2025:
  • We promoted engagement initiatives in collaboration with the Italian Multiple Sclerosis Association (AISM), with three dedicated weekends (“AISM’s Aromatic Herbs”, “Gardensia”, and “The Apple of AISM”) focused on fundraising to finance research and support services. These efforts aim to strengthen the essential healthcare and assistance needed by those living with multiple sclerosis and related pathologies.
  • We collaborated with Save the Children on the first edition of the “Bis Buoni” initiative, a biscuit sale whose proceeds support projects for children in need.
  • We also took part in Let’s Do It Italy - Cleanup Day, a day dedicated to cleaning public spaces and green areas, with our participation in Naples, Rome, and Milan. 
  • As part of the “Valori Ritrovati” (Recovered Values) project, in collaboration with Fondazione Caritas Roma and with the contribution of Poste Group volunteers, we organized the 'Mercatini della Solidarietà' (Solidarity Markets) to sell items donated through the project. 

Support for women victims of violence

In 2022, we launched the ‘Housing Autonomy for Women Victims of Violenceproject, providing 10 flats from our housing stock throughout the country to accommodate women who are victims of violence, alone or with children, and who are in difficult economic situations. The initiative involved the Anti-Violence Centres of 9 towns, associations engaged in the fight against gender-based violence and the Municipality of Bari. Since the project was launched, a significant number of people have been accommodated in the Group’s housing: 98 women, accompanied by 51 minors.

Educational activities

Through our educational activities, we aim to raise awareness among all citizens on issues related to financial inclusion, technological evolution, sustainability and logistics.
 
Financial education is one of our priorities because it enables people to better manage their money, save more, protect themselves against unforeseen events and live well into their retirement years. In 2025 the EDUFinTOUR ROAD SHOW continued, a series of free meetings to help citizens improve their knowledge and make more informed financial choices. Compared to the 2024 edition, the project introduced dedicated sessions on investments, led by experts from BancoPosta Fondi SGR, and strengthened collaboration with the Municipal Administrations hosting the events. To further enhance financial literacy among secondary school students, a new series of in-person conferences called “EDUFinTour young” was also launched. 
 
We have also produced a series of 7 financial education podcasts (in Italian) aimed at young people: in just a few minutes, we address ‘serious’ topics such as budgeting, buying in instalments or saving in a simple and entertaining way. 
 
For some time we have also been involved in the growth of the younger generation through initiatives in schools.
 
In 2025: 
 
  • we implemented the Next Generation programme for school orientation and soft skills development for young people from vulnerable social backgrounds. Goal: to introduce them to the world of work and prepare them for the jobs of the future. In particular, in the 2025 edition, during the “Creathon residenziale” (an initiative where participants work in teams to develop innovative solutions in response to a challenge), students tackled a challenge focused on bullying.
  • School4Life 2.0 project was completed, developed with other large companies to combat early school leaving. Some of our colleagues acted as mentors and ‘profession masters’ in secondary schools. At the end of the two-year project, we collaborated with 11 schools, directly engaging more than 1,100 students through 55 sessions led by our people, for a total of 110 hours of guidance.

Our goal: 150 education initiatives/content per year in 2025 and 2026.
In 2025, we delivered 215 education initiatives/content. 

Financial inclusion

Promoting financial inclusion means ensuring that everyone, especially the most vulnerable, has access to basic products and services that are essential for active participation in economic and social life. With this in mind, we have developed solutions designed to facilitate access to banking and insurance services, support savings capacity and encourage responsible resource management.

The most significant initiatives include the Basic Account, which provides access to the main banking services at favourable terms, while the Youth Loan facilitates access to credit for younger generations, who are often disadvantaged by precarious working conditions. These are complemented by protective measures such as the suspension of loan repayments in the event of disasters or other events.

Solutions have also been developed for the elderly, such as the free policy on pension withdrawals, which helps to provide more security in the daily management of finances.

Through these actions, we are confirming our role as a local and social safeguard, committed to removing the economic barriers that hinder people’s full inclusion in the life of the country.
