Our approach to sustainability

Our approach to Sustainability

Driving Italy’s path toward a sustainable future

We are a unique presence in Italy in terms of scale, history, proximity to citizens, and strategic importance. In a context marked by profound environmental, social, and economic transformations, we lead the Country’s sustainable development and digital evolution, making a significant contribution to economic well-being and social cohesion.

Our sustainability strategy, fully integrated into the 2024–2028 Strategic Plan, brings our vision to life.

As Italy’s largest employer, valuing people is a core part of our mission. This is why we actively support continuous learning, diversity and inclusion, and promote development and engagement opportunities for all generations, particularly young people.

We do this also through our widespread presence across the country, ensuring access to essential services even in small towns and remote areas, and helping bridge the digital divide, thereby strengthening economic and social cohesion.

We also adopt concrete solutions to tackle climate change by reducing emissions through the decarbonization of logistics, improving the energy efficiency of our buildings, and embracing circular economy practices.

Underlying all of this is a commitment to continuous innovation. We invest in simple, secure digital solutions to meet the evolving needs of citizens, businesses, and public institutions, engaging the entire value chain in a sustainable transformation journey.

We are guided by principles of transparency, integrity, and dialogue, which strengthen our relationship of trust with stakeholders and communities every day, helping to build a more equitable, connected, and sustainable future for all.

This document complies with the requirements of EU Directive 2022/2464 - Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), transposed in Italy by Legislative Decree 125/2024. The information contained in the Sustainability Report was prepared in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) developed by the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG). These reporting standards were therefore adopted by the Group for the first time in 2024 to replace the Global Reporting Initiative’s GRI Standards, previously used for the preparation of the Consolidated Non-Financial Statement (DNF) in accordance with Legislative Decree 254/2016, now superseded by the transposition of CSRD in Italy through Legislative Decree no. 125/2024.
