221e Poste Italiane, within Elis's Open Italy program, has identified the opportunity to improve the work of Postmen in terms of safety and ecological footprint thanks to the technology of the start-up 221e.

Detail – 221e

With the Fleet Connected project (SIS "Security - Innovation - Sustainability), Poste Italiane consolidates its role in Open Innovation by acquiring know-how in the IoT (Internet Of Things) field in line with the path taken by Digital Transformation, which provides for the development of innovative solutions, as a support and source for the business evolution.

221e installed the MUSE multi-sensor platform: wearable sensors positioned on the uniform of postmen and on 2, 3 and 4-wheeled vehicles. Through sensor fusion algorithms developed internally, the following were provided: the data relating to the emergency requests that will be activated automatically; survey data on vibrations generated by the road surface and aggregate indices relating to driving dynamics, thus encouraging safe and eco-sustainable driving.

The "Connected Fleet" project saw an experimentation period of 12 weeks in 2020 at the end of which the model developed made it possible to identify the logics, processes and algorithms to support any technological evolutions, leading Poste Italiane towards the achievement of its goal for an increasingly safe and sustainable fleet.
