Poste in the country, for the country

We have always been a benchmark for the national economic system. Our nationwide presence allows us to offer essential services to citizens and communities every day. Environmental and social sustainability is an integral part of the way we operate.

In an increasingly complex and challenging context, we are aiming to guide the country’s path to sustainability by supporting the national economy, combating climate change and promoting digital innovation, fostering the development of an increasingly inclusive society.

In 2024, we continued on our sustainable growth path with a strategy based on continuous innovation and constant anticipation of the new needs of our customers and citizens.

Matteo Del Fante, CEO of Poste Italiane, commented:
"Poste Italiane continues to play a key role in the national economic landscape, aiming to foster responsible growth and promote digital evolution. Through the achievement of financial, operational and sustainability goals, the Group excels in terms of its strength and ability to offer innovative solutions, even in a context marked by significant challenges and transformations, confirming its position as a pillar of the Italian economy and maintaining its leadership as the largest employer in Italy and the main operator in the logistics sector."

Sustainability integrated into our business strategies

Our Purpose, testifies to how deeply sustainability is integrated into the business:

Grow responsibly thanks to the decisive contribution
of its people to the sustainable success,
innovation, digitisation and
social cohesion of the Country.

Our 2024 - 2028 Strategic Plan hinges on Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) principles, aiming to guide the country’s sustainability journey through our many initiatives.

Our widespread presence throughout the country is a key element in promoting Italy’s economic and social cohesion, while also bridging the ‘digital divide’ in small towns and inland areas. Our strategy in addressing social challenges reflects a strong commitment to the most vulnerable and the needs of the community.

As the largest employer in Italy, we have a responsibility to our people. We are committed to developing professional skills, enhancing our resources, promoting diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities, and addressing the needs of all generations, including young workers.

We combat climate change and promote decarbonisation by focusing on two key main-areas: decarbonisation of logistics, including through the renewal of our fleet, and energy efficiency in our buildings. We are aware of the need to protect the environment by adopting responsible behaviour in our use of natural resources and waste management, seeking to achieve a circular economy.

We strive to maintain the strong relationship of trust that binds us to our people, our customers, our suppliers and the communities we serve.

We will continue to invest in digital transformation, striving to better respond to new customer expectations and to embrace far-reaching changes in the way people live and work. We involve our supply chain in the path to sustainability. We are constantly working to provide support to citizens, businesses and the public administration in the process of digitising the country.

Our corporate culture is based on the principles of ”Integrity and Transparency”, values that guide us every day in our business activities and in our relations with our stakeholders. Our commitment to environmental, social and governance issues is also reflected in the Group’s financial processes and investment choices, which are based on sustainable finance policies.

The eight cornerstones of our ESG Strategy

The Group’s ESG Strategy, integrated in our 2024 - 2028 Strategic Plan “The Connecting Platform”, is built on 8 pillars: Integrity and transparency, People development, Diversity and inclusion, Creating value for the country, Green transition, Customer experience, Innovation and Sustainable finance.

The table shows the breakdown of the pillars in the three areas (ESG): environmental, social and governance.
