Poste Italiane confirms its presence within the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and in the more selective Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index.
This achievement confers a particular prestige in the light of the record participation by companies and of the adoption of stricter and more stringent economic, social and environmental assessment criteria.
SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) by Standard & Poor’s Global is the main global reference point for sustainability. Based on its findings, Companies are selected for the inclusion in the most prestigious sustainability indices, such as the Dow Jones Sustainability Index and S&P 500 ESG.

“Being a component of the two most prestigious international sustainability indices is a result that gives the measure of the reputation of Poste Italiane and of its relevance as a lever of competitiveness to face and overcome the challenges of an increasingly evolved market”– said the Company’s CEO Matteo Del Fante. The success achieved today, with a clear improvement in performance, stems from the multiyear path undertaken by the Group which has led to the integration of sustainability at all company levels with the aim of creating shared value for the Country and for our stakeholders”.

“The confirmation of the presence within the authoritative Dow Jones indices – commented Giuseppe Lasco, Poste Italiane’s Deputy General Manager– makes us proud of the work done by our people so far, and rewards the Company’s continuous commitment to a proper management of risks and opportunities related to environmental, social and governance matters. Giving substance to the concept of sustainability, through a clear and shared strategy, is particularly important in the current difficult context of the global pandemic.”

Standard & Poor’s Global compares companies in 61 sectors through questionnaires that evaluate their overall sustainability performance. Dow Jones Sustainability World Index tracks the performance of the top 10% of the 2,500 largest companies listed within S&P Global Broad Market Index, while Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index tracks the performance of the top 20% of the 600 largest European companies.

A comment on the results achieved by Poste Italiane also came from Manjit Jus, Global Head of ESG Research and Data di S&P Global: “We congratulate Poste Italiane for being included in the DJSI World and DJSI Europe. A DJSI distinction is a reflection of being a sustainability leader in your industry. With a record number of companies participating in the 2020 Corporate Sustainability Assessment and more stringent rules for inclusion this year, this sets your company apart and rewards your continued commitment to people and planet."
